The 2019 Credit Union Art Competition is now open for entries! This inclusive competition is open to entrants of all ages, from 7 years and under to 18 years and over. Entrants are encouraged to draw or paint posters on this year’s theme ‘Walk of Life’.

‘Walk of Life’
This year’s theme, ‘Walk of Life’, encourages participants to draw inspiration from the challenges facing the environment and our planet. Entrants are invited to think about the positive changes they might have witnessed in their own local communnities, or in wider society. Alternatively, they may want to depicit the positive changes they have gone through themselves as individuals, as they continue the journey through life.

This competition requires entrants to draw or paint posters inspired by the theme ‘Walk of Life’, using pencil, charcoal, pen or ink, felt tip marker, crayon, pastel, water colours, gouache, acrylics, oils, poster colour or collage. Prints on a lino block, wood block or any other method may also be submitted.

The competition has two categories – General & Special – with the following age groups in each category:
7 years and under inclusive
8 – 10 years inclusive
11- 13 years inclusive
14-17 years inclusive
18 years and over (Adult)
Group (Special)

Age as at December 31st 2019.

Special Category
The special category encourages children and adults with physical or intellectual disability to submit entries in free expression without the restriction of the competition’s official theme if they wish. It also allows for group entries. All group entries will be judged together – no age categories apply.
Entries for the Special Category and those under 18 years will require the signature of a teacher or facilitator or guardian to declare the work is the unaided effort of the entrants.

Poster Requirements
Posters are required to be either A3 (420 x 297 mm) or A2 (594 x 420mm) in size and landscape orientation.
Portrait orientation entries will be disqualified from adjudication.

Competition Stages
The competition is organised into three stages, with the winner in each category being forwarded to the next stage, these being Stage 1 Credit Union Level
Stage 2 Chapter (Regional) Level
Stage 3 National Final

Entrants must submit their entry to Roscommon Credit Union Limited to progress to the following stages. The winning entries from stage one are passed to Chapter for adjudication at a regional (second) stage before the winners only at this level are forwarded to the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) for final (national) judging.

Closing Date for Stage 1
Entries are to be submitted to Roscommon Credit Union Limited on or before the closing date of Friday, 11th October 2019. Entrants can post or hand deliver entries to any of our three branch offices in Roscommon, Elphin or Strokestown. Please note opening days and times of the branch office you wish to submit your entry, opening times are noted on our website.

Entry Form
Entrants are required to submit a poster for judging as per specifications above, accompanied by an entry form. Entry forms must be securely attached to the back of the poster.

Entrants may enter the competiton only once in any given year.
