Dear Members

Please be advised that we are unable to accept the Public Services Card (PSC) as a form of identification, or of PPSN confirmation.

Credit Unions as a financial body are not explicitly specified in the main Social Welfare Act and are therefore prohibited from accepting the PSC as proof of identity, even where the cardholder voluntarily tenders it for this purpose. Accepting the PSC would be an offence under the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 (Section 263, subsection 4).

There have been reports over the last few years that the Minister is considering changes to the legislation to broaden the use of this card, but until these are brought into effect, we cannot accept this card. We appreciate that for many of our members this may be your main form of photo ID, and we greatly regret this situation and the inconvenience it causes.

Roscommon Credit Union accepts the following documents as Proof of Identity and Address
